As a general packing practice, keep shipping cartons within the pallet edges and support the bottom layer properly. Overhanging cartons expose their edges to impacts and leave part of the package base unsupported. Stretch wrap can hold cartons together, but it cannot provide the missing support beneath them. Check your carrier’s and receiver’s packing requirements before accepting any arrangement with a projecting load.
Measure the complete packed layer, including protective packaging, before selecting the pallet footprint. If the cartons extend beyond the edge, revise the layer pattern or discuss a more suitable pallet size instead of assuming a small overhang is harmless.
