Yes. Give the freight provider the gross weight of the completed shipment, including the goods, pallet, cartons, wrapping, straps and any protective materials. Product weight alone understates what the carrier will move. If several pallets are being shipped, record the completed weight of each unit and the combined total as requested by the carrier, rather than assuming every pallet weighs the same.
An empty pallet’s weight is often called tare weight; it is different from the weight the pallet is designed to support. Wood species, dimensions, construction and moisture can change tare weight, so use a reliable measurement or a verified specification for the actual pallet.
